Photographs: New Years in Rome, Vatican

Posted on

Year 2017 ended with a firework show over the Rome sky. Year 2018 began with a visit to the Vatican. Before writing extensively on our new years in Rome, things to do and things to avoid, places to see and so on, I thought I would set the mood by picking some of my photographs from our trip to show you what we did. Here they are!

Of course, like every tourist, we also threw our coins to Fontana di Trevi and wished for good fortune in the following year.

A family taking a picture on the Spanish steps. I will speak more about the business of these steps later but prepare for crowds if you visit these steps during your Rome trip.

Pantheon’s silence is intoxicating. Walking around the circle room that is booming but silent is a strange experience.

Rome is filled with Seagulls. They provide perfect accidental models.

Bridges that connect Rome. Each bridge is different somehow.

As it was New Years there of course were fireworks and oh boy did Rome know how to put up a show!

One of the churches we visited in Rome. Many churches look quite bland on the outside but just like this one are beautiful on the inside.

For someone who likes to take photos is Rome a perfect place to visit. The city has beautiful ruins and sights but also small little quirks like these walls here.

Near the Jewish quarters there are stunningly red ruins that provide their own frames for a photo.

Umbrellas up! Rain fall in Rome does not stop us from seeing our sights!

We were lucky that after a rainy day the sun chose to show itself and provide us with a beautiful sunset.

Vatican has some pretty buildings to photograph and of course some accidental models to accompany those photos.

Our Vatican day ended in a hike up the St. Peter’s Basilica. The view from the top was a good way to end this photojourney to the sunny new year days.
Psst! *waves you over* Remember to share this with your humans!
